Moving On...

Pack up your bags, but you still carry your worry with you...

Duct tape over and around
What did I do wrong?
Cut off more tape
Why did I do that?
Paste it on the other side
I wish we could forget that moment
Stick a fragile sticker on the side
I heave the moving box on the side of the truck
Hoping for a chance to start anew
In a new town
In a new house
In a a new life
Many would see this as running away
I don’t agree
I see it as running toward
Running toward hope
Running toward a new life
To forget my mistakes
My actions
My words that cut through others
Through myself
The inability to forgive myself will continue to haunt me
They say….
What, will you keep moving whenever something goes wrong?
No, just enough until I stop making those mistakes.
This short piece represents a young person packing up and running away from their past mistakes. They are unable to forgive themselves, and as a result, choose to distance themselves far away from their previous life. Concerns brought up by others cause the person to reason with themself. Running away won’t fix your problems, as they will follow you wherever you go.
