How to stop comparing yourself to others

The comparisons start from the very beginning of our lives. When with friends, parents compare our habits to theirs, constantly reminding us that we have to improve ourselves. As we grow up, we start to compare ourselves to our friends. The way they dress, the number of friends they have, their grades, etc.… We may spend hours scrolling on the internet, comparing our lives to total strangers.



The truth is that… These comparisons are simply inevitable.

No matter how much we try to avoid it, our minds will continue to compare ourselves to others.

So… instead of avoiding it, we should try various methods that might help with the constant comparisons.


  • Contentment: Try to focus on the things that you are secure within your life. The more the security, the less the insecurity. Therefore, the less we need to compare ourselves constantly.

  • Recognize reality: The truth is that everyone has insecurities. Recognizing that everyone has ups and downs will significantly improve your life.

  • Self Competition: Compare your current self, and compare it with your past one. Celebrate how far you have come!
